Karen and Rodger’s commitment to supporting local artists and including personal artistic elements touched nearly every aspect of their San Diego wedding. The couple commissioned San Diego Weddings of Distinctionwedding photographers and artists Amy and Maurice Wright of Theorie to capture the wedding day in their well-known colorful and modern fashion. The couple also brought in local flamenco guitarist and fellow San Diego Weddings of Distinction member, Anthony Garcia, to entertain guests before the ceremony and throughout the cocktail hour. A talented musician, Garcia’s playing perfectly matched the European inspired atmosphere of the wedding location, Azul Restaurant in La Jolla. The bride and groom chose additional local and non-local artists to provide hair and makeup, custom jewelry design for their engagement and wedding rings, the bride’s wedding dress, the hand died groomsmen’s silk ties and boutonnieres, the silk flower corsages and hair accents for the bride and bridesmaids, and wedding invitations. The bride, an artist herself, created the place settings as well as the little flower petal boxes place on chairs at the ceremony. She even painted a portrait of the couple for the guests to sign at the reception. The images created by Theorie perfectly reflect the vibrant colors and artistic details of Karen and Rodger’s San Diego wedding.
Larissa and Robert celebrated their classically modern wedding in true Southern California fashion at the adorable Darlington House in La Jolla. San Diego Weddings of Distinction members, Amy and Maurice Wright of Theorie, were there to capture all of the colorful details and enjoyable moments of the beautiful day. Theorie’s artistic and modern wedding photography was the perfect fit for Larissa and Robert, who were very happy with Amy and Maurice’s easy-going personalities and creativity. With the beach just a block away from the wedding venue, the couple had the best of both worlds … beach wedding pictures and a lovely outdoor ceremony in an intimate setting. Fellow San Diego Weddings of Distinction member, Rae Florae, provided the bright and beautiful floral design. As you can see from the wedding photos, Rae Florae’s lovely and creative floral creations brightened every aspect of the wedding day.
Troy and Jessica’s wedding was an explosion of color and vibrance that we have absolutely fallen in love with. The June nuptials were a bright and lively celebration with plenty of good food and good times to go around. Held outdoors at Orfilia Winery, in Escondido, the couple’s main goal for the big day was to throw a kick butt party with friends and family. Weddings of Distinction member, Lisa, of elle.g photography was on hand to capture every heartfelt moment, joyous laughter and wild dancing. Also in attendance from Weddings of Distinction was Continental Catering. They provided the scrumptious food, giving the guests energy enough to dance all night long.
Kelly and Alex got married at the Mission Bay Yacht Club on a beautiful spring San Diego day. The day’s events were captured by San Diego Weddings of Distinctionartists Amy and Maurice Wright of Theorie. Fellow San Diego Weddings of Distinction member and coordinator extraordinaire, Cynthia Zatkins of CZ Events orchestrated the day to perfection, ensuring that both bride and groom and their wedding party, as well as the guests had a fabulous fun time. And the amazing floral design was created by San Diego Weddings of Distinction floral designer Paula Rae of Rae Florae. The bright and colorful orange tulips, multi-colored gerber daisies, pretty little white camomile baby blossoms, orange pincushins, green spider mums and white scabiosa brought a sense of fun and eclectic freshness to the day. Attended by family and friends from all over the country, the love for this couple was endless. The wedding had elements of the couple all over it. From highlighting their love for sailing to the music that was played at the reception, there was no doubt that you got a sense of what this couple was about and the love they had for each other. The bride and her attendants arrived at the wedding in a fun little water vessel. They enjoyed a champagne toast before debarking at the dock where the groomsmen ushered the bridesmaids into the ceremony and the bride’s father walker the bride up the aisle. Their ceremony, held on the yacht club’s outside deck, provided an amazing view of Mission Bay for out of town guests to enjoy. Two words to describe their reception: 80s fabulousness. The tables were named after popular 80s songs like “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “867-5309” and were also adorned with brightly colored flowers arranged in mason jars that matched the margaritas that were served. To add to the 80s awesomeness, they even had the San Diego 80’s cover band, Freeze Frame, play all their favorite rockin’ 80s songs all night long. The guests were even treated to fireworks courtesy of Sea World late in the evening.f
It was a gorgeous, sunny afternoon for a wedding at The Bahia Hotel and Resort. The reception was held on the Bahia Belle, under what is a truly gorgeous stained glass ceiling. Chris and Tracey are two of San Diego’s hospitality industry’s best and they took care to choose from among their favorite wedding services to give their wedding just the right feel. Several San Diego Weddings of Distinction members were chosen. Kyle Karges of San Diego High Definition Weddings was selected to provide the videography. For the cocktail hour, Flamenco Guitarist Anthony Garcia was requested to provide music for guests on a patio overlooking Mission Bay. Dennis Way of ABI Photography, was chosen to photograph the gorgeous setting and delighted guests.
When Libby and Scott were deciding where to have their wedding reception, it wasn’t a hard choice. Libby’s father is co-owner of the new Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa! Everything about the wedding was top notch. The square and round tables were dressed with beautiful pintuck linens provided by San Diego Weddings of Distinctions member Concepts Event Design. Sheraton Carlsbad’s own Executive Chef Steven Patrick provided creative and sustainable cuisine, using local Carlsbad grown vegetables and all natural Brandt Farms beef. WOD member Sweet Cheeks Bakery ended the night with a lovely five tiered wedding cake. Everything about the event was magical!
Brad and Elisabeth met on E-Harmony in 2007 and felt an immediate connection! Their wedding at the Powerhouse in Del Mar showed off the gorgeous Pacific Ocean to the many out of town friends and family who joined them from New York and Washington.
Here is part of their beautiful story from Elisabeth:
“Brad proposed on the night before a big trip to Italy (he was going to do it in Italy but was nervous about carrying the ring around). I was completely surprised, and it made an already romantic trip to Italy feel like a honeymoon! I am from Syracuse, New York and Brad is from Tacoma, Washington, so San Diego really felt like a vacation wedding to our guests. All of our vendors did such a great job and EVERYTHING was perfect – including an amazing sunset over the Pacific. I can honestly say that our wedding was the best day of my life. We are now so excited to be married and feel closer than ever. It’s amazing to know that we each get to spend our future with our best friend.”
Some of the fine Weddings of Distinction members shared in this gorgeous day: Studio Carre’ Photographie took some fantastic photos, seen here – all shot by Shannon Henry. Concepts Event Design created an indoor oceanic landscape with beautiful silk linens in shades of aqua and teal. Sweet Cheeks Baking Company created an ocean-inspired cake of this delicious combination: blackout chocolate cake filled with peanut butter mousse and Belgian chocolate whipped cream, tiered with red velvet cake with cream cheese filling, all frosted with Italian Butter Cream under the final layer of fondant, sugar bubbles, and white chocolate shells.
A classic, vintage wedding is what Tricia and Ben envisioned for their wedding day and with the help of Weddings of Distinction members, their expectations were exceeded. Definitive Events was selected as their wedding coordinators and worked closely with all of the vendors to provide flawless execution on the wedding day. Their reception was in the historic Grand Ballroom of The Prado, who also catered the event with exquisite dishes and provided exceptional service. Lois Mathews lavished the room with her creative floral designs. She completed the vintage look with her elegant pearl draped candelabras and vibrant florals. The wedding was more than Tricia & Ben imagined and the perfect send off to their new life in Italy.
Michelle and Tyler exchanged wedding vows at the Wishing Well at The Prado at Balboa Park. It was an awesome display of Weddings of Distinction members on the night. Wedding Coordinator Ann Strobel from Ann’s Plans kept the night moving along in style from ceremony through reception. Ladies dazzled and tables shown with incredible floral bouquets & arrangements from Lois Mathews Designs. Variations of Spanish guitar wafted throughout the courtyard for the cocktail hour courtesy of Bob Brichmann, DJ from Artistic Productions. The party continued to rock throughout the reception with a mix of retro, old school and modern classics.
