The Catamaran Resort resembles a tropical haven, complete with talking birds, coy fish the size of toaster ovens, and greenery and tiki posts you’d expect only to see in Hawaii. That’s the beauty of the place. It is an exotic, beachfront resort that allows guests to truly feel like they are on an island.
So when we learned that November’s meeting would take place at the Catamaran, we were excited about the lunch-cation.
We dined in the Aviary Ballroom, which is the primary event space for weddings and/or large parties. Amber Kelly, Catering Manager at the Catamaran, so graciously hosted our group, and everything from the meal, to the stellar views of San Diego bay, was enough to make us feel like wedding royalty.
We heard from Debbie Ballow, of Lux Artistry, a mobile makeup and hair stylist serving San Diego and beyond. Lux specializes in airbrush makeup and specialty hair styles, catering to the most discerning of brides. Debbie even did a live demo on Shannon Henry (of Studio Carre’ Photography), showcasing the amazingly fast effects of airbrush makeup.
Our dessert was provided by Sweet Cheeks Baking Company, and Elaine and her team provided a full table spread of treats: from mini pies, to cupcakes and more. And finally, our centerpieces were a little different than normal. Instead of flowers, Carmin Cermak, of Carmin Design, brought in adorable animal displays and decorations. It was a nice change.
December’s holiday event took place only a few weeks after November’s meeting, so stay tuned for that feature coming shortly! Until then, enjoy images from November’s voyage to the tropics 😉
